Wedding Proposal

Crossing the world to attend a religious university where you will be required to learn theology alongside your regular studies which means a greater effort may seem somewhat silly, especially because we find good universities all over the world. At a meeting of newcomers we were asked why we chose this university and what were we looking for. Some said we came in search of the best education, a few had other reasons but almost all said: “I came here to get married and as here concentrates a lot of the church’s youth will have an opportunity to choose the best partner”

Girls dated a guy for a few weeks and came home yelling, "He asked me, asked me, look at my diamond!" It was as if they had never seen one before. I began to wonder why it is so important that diamond, even if it is smaller than a grain of rice. In Latin cultures, both in Europe and in America men propose marriage with a wedding ring that is used in the opposite hand and changed of place in the wedding. Usually it is a family heirloom that has been passed from generation to generation which means that you will not just become part of the family but you are given an honorable place within it.

When asked, some people said the hardness of the stone symbolized a solid foundation for your home and the certainty that your marriage will last forever. I learned the real reason later, at the fire arts school.

La Propuesta.

 

Cruzar el mundo para asistir a una universidad religiosa donde se te exigirá aprender teología a la par de la carrera, lo cual implica un mayor esfuerzo puede parecer un tanto tonto. Sobre todo porque buenas universidades hay en todo el mundo. En una reunión de recién ingresados se nos pregunto porque elegimos esta universidad y que es lo que estamos buscando. Unos pocos dijimos haber venido en busca de la mejor educación, uno que otro tenía otra razón pero casi todos dijeron: “vine a casarme y dado que aquí se concentra una gran cantidad de jóvenes de la iglesia tendré oportunidad de elegir la mejor pareja”

Las jóvenes salían unas cuantas semanas con un chico y llegaban a la residencia gritando: “¡Me lo pidió, me lo pidió, miren mi diamante!” era como si nunca antes hubieran visto uno. Comencé a preguntarme porque es tan importante ese diamante, incluso si es más pequeño que un grano de arroz. En las culturas latinas, tanto en Europa como en América se pide matrimonio con el aro de boda que se usa en la mano contraria y se cambia de lugar durante la ceremonia. Generalmente es una reliquia familiar que ha pasado de generación en generación lo cual implica que no solo que te convertirás en parte de la familia sino que se te concede un lugar honorable dentro de ella.
 

Algunas personas dijeron que la dureza de la piedra simbolizaba un fundamento sólido para tu hogar y la certeza de que durara por siempre. La verdadera razón la aprendí más tarde, en la escuela de artes del fuego.

El resultado, si la hacemos reflejar sobre una superficie plana por medio de una luz será la estrella de David, 2 veces, una dentro de la otra o rosa de los vientos.

La estrella de David no es otra cosa que dos triángulos superpuestos. El triangulo que mira hacia arriba es femenino, representa la esposa, al pueblo de Dios y también la invocación de Dios (oración). El triangulo que mira hacia abajo es masculino, representa a Dios y también protección de Dios. Cuando se superponen los dos triángulos para formar la estrella simboliza el pacto Abramico: “Matrimonio eterno, convenio sagrado, un pacto perpetuo entre el hombre y Dios”

De manera que el diamante simboliza una unión eterna con Dios como centro y protector del hogar. Es una manera de decir; “Dios será testigo de mi amor y mi lealtad, Te guiare en justicia”

Quien acepta una propuesta de matrimonio con un diamante dice como Ruth: “Donde quiera que tu vayas iré yo y dondequiera que vivieres viviré y allí seré sepultada, tu pueblo será mi pueblo y tu Dios mi Dios”

Ambas partes deben honrar su compromiso como lo sagrado que es.
