Mom, What's A Clean Soul?

Tortuous moments cause us our children, between 3 and 4 years old. When having won a good vocabulary they begin asking and asking questions only to hear our voices because they don’t like silence.

-What’s soul mom?

-Well! Soul is the spirit that dwells within your body. Is that being which feels and suffers, is what qualifies you as human being, lion as lion, dog as dog and so on.

-But animals have no souls!

-Are you sure? In Genesis says that in the beginning there was nothing and souls wandered in the vastness of nothing, then God congregated those souls and organized them by degrees of intelligence. It says "and He organized the large and small intelligences."

-Oh! Then animals have little intelligence?

-I didn’t say that, they have the nobility of the great souls. Notice this: you serve your dog the remains your own food, make it sleep outside, mistreat it, but when the thief enters at night, he risks his life to save yours. Mine rips me burs of clothing when I walk in the forest and protects me from snakes.

-So, what’s a great soul mama?

-Great is the one who can beat his own instincts and passions to keep himself free from all the vile and wicked things we find in this world.

-Then the great are the dogs?

-Yes and no. Have you heard anyone say "the more I know people the more I love my dog"? But there are also people who manage to stay safe from the base instincts and passions, people who spend their lives serving the cause of homeless, for example, those who overcome themselves and humanity. We could qualify them as noble souls.

- You don’t even know what you are saying mom! In fairy tales say the nobles are kings and princes. Don’t you read?

-Yes sweetie I read but the nobility I'm talking about is the ability to keep our soul clean.

-Just need to wash it Mom, like cloth!

-Soul cannot be washed with soap and water, it is ethereal, intangible. Clean it requires a process so complicated and difficult it is best to keep it clean.

-But what if you fall down and get dirty, don’t you wash it like cloth?

-That's the body that is tangible but for soul exists the process I just mentioned, it is called justification before God and it is the way to obtaining forgiveness from God and men. This is how we come to have a clean soul.

-You're a liar Mom! You told me not to justify, accept my faults and now you are saying we can cheat on God. You said before we cannot!

-Justifying before God is not cheating, is regaining his respect. Keep having His love even when we are fallible. See, there was a man named David who gained high esteem in the eyes of God. David killed someone and lost His reward but as he endeavor serving God for the rest of his life and being always worthy the Lord kept loving and protecting him.

-Mom, Mom Grandpa is here -on the run-

-Let me see your reward grandpa. Tell me who you killed!

-Hey, that's not the David I told you about. –I thought- Know I have to convince him I didn’t call him killer.

 

Un Alma Limpia

Tortuosos momentos nos provocan nuestros hijos, entre 3 y 4 años de edad, cuando habiendo ganado ya un buen vocabulario comienzan a hacer preguntas solo para oír nuestra voz porque el silencio no les gusta.

- ¿Mami, el alma, que es?

-Pues, el alma es el espíritu que anida dentro de tu cuerpo. Es ese ser que siente y padece, Es lo que te califica como ser humano a ti, como león al león, como perro al perro, etc.

-¡Pero los animales no tienen alma mama!

-¿Estás seguro? en el Génesis dice que al principio no había nada y las almas se movían en la inmensidad de la nada; entonces Dios se congrego con las almas y las organizo por grados de inteligencia. Dice "y organizo las inteligencias grandes y pequeñas".

-¡Ah! ¿Entonces los animales tienen poca inteligencia?

-Yo no he dicho eso, ellos gozan de la nobleza propia de las grandes almas, fíjate bien: al perro le sirves restos de tu propia comida, lo haces dormir a la intemperie, lo maltratas pero, cuando el ladrón penetra, en la noche, el arriesga su vida para salvarte. El mío me arranca los cadillos de la ropa cuando ando en el monte y me protege de las culebras.

-¿Entonces que es alma grande mama?

-Grande es el que puede vencer sus propios instintos y pasiones y conservarse limpio de todo lo ruin y todo lo impío que hay en este mundo.

-¿Entonces los grandes son los perros?

-Sí y no. ¿Acaso no has oído decir "entre mas conozco a la gente más quiero a mi perro"? pero también hay personas que consiguen mantenerse a salvo de los bajos instintos y pasiones. Seres que entregan su vida al servicio desinteresado en la causa de los desamparados, por ejemplo. Seres que se sobreponen a sí mismos y a la humanidad. A ellos podríamos calificarlos como almas nobles.

-¡Mami tú no sabes! en los cuentos dice que los nobles son los reyes y los príncipes. ¿Tú no lees?

-Si leo, amorcito, pero la nobleza de la que yo te estoy hablando es la capacidad para conservar el alma limpia.

-¡La lavan mami, como la ropa!

-El alma no puede lavarse con agua y jabón, es etérea

-¿Pero y si uno se cae y se ensucia, no se lava como la ropa?

-Ese es el cuerpo que si es tangible, pero para el alma existe el proceso que ya te acabo de mencionar, se llama justificación con Dios y por el obtenemos el perdón de Dios y del hombre. Llegamos de esa manera a tener un alma limpia.

-Tú eres una mentirosa mami, tú dijiste que no me justifique, que acepte mis faltas y ahora a Dios si le puedo hacer trampas, ¿no que no se puede?

-Justificarse con Dios no es hacerle trampas, es recobrar su respeto, aun cuando seamos falibles tener su amor. Fíjate bien, David gozaba de alta estima a los ojos de Dios pero mato a alguien y perdió su galardón pero como él se empeño en servir a Dios por el resto de su vida y ser digno siempre el Señor lo siguió amando y protegiendo.

-¡Mami, mami llego el abuelo! -y en plena carrera-

-¡Para ver tu galardón abuelo. Dime a quien mataste!

-¡Hey, ese no es el David que te conté! Pensé, ¿ahora como convenzo al abuelo que no lo llame asesino?
